The Dell PowerEdge R710 is a 2U rackmount server which has a single LGA 1366 socket. It can address up to 288GB (16GB X 18) of DDR3 RDIMMs with a max frequency of 1333 MHz. With 2 DIMMs per channel installed the max frequency is reduced to 1066 MHz and with 3 DIMMs per channel it is further reduced to 800 MHz. The processors that this system support includes all of the Intel Xeon processor 5500 and 5600 series series. The R710 has up to 8 2.5" or 6 3.5" drive bays. This system has 4 available expansion slot.

The R710 can be equipped with one 250W power supply. In a configuration with Dual 5540's, 6 2GB DDR3 UDIMMs, 4 HDD and dual redundant power supplies. You can expect idle power consumption to be roughly 122.3 watts. This will cost roughly $106.42 for a full year of idling with the national average cost of $.10/KWh. At full load you can expect power consumption of roughly 266.8 watts. It would cost roughly $237.56 to run the system at full load continuously for a year.
